Dr. Freeman is a frequent contributor to FARE, and she serves as a Behavioral Healthcare Advisor for both the Academy of Food Allergy Counseling and the Food Allergy Counseling Directory. Dr. Freeman additionally speaks at hospitals and medical conferences, where she passionately educates physicians and families about the challenges of managing food allergies. Dr. Freeman is one of only a few alpha-gal-informed mental health providers in the United States.
From Dr. Freeman: “As I was in the early stages of learning about my child’s food allergy as a mom and psychologist, I recognized a glaring lack of psychosocial support for those navigating this journey. This gap became even more apparent as my family navigated allergic reactions, school, social events, food challenges, and OIT. As a result, I changed the clinical focus of my practice to support those navigating food allergies and the anxiety that can result from food allergy management. It has been the most fulfilling work of my career.”
