About Me

I have dedicated my professional life to empowering people in personal and professional endeavors to navigate the hard stuff. Everyone’s journey includes sadness, suffering, pain, loneliness, worry, loss and a host of other challenges. I feel at my best when helping people move through the storms of their life, channeling Vivian Greene’s often quoted wisdom about not waiting for the storm to pass, but instead learning to dance in the rain. I love writing, reading, and traveling, and am a wanna-be foodie! I have lived long enough to face serious challenges and painful loss and to experience small and large joys and triumphs. And….. I have a job I love.

It is so inspiring to witness the change that therapy can facilitate. I am the parent of a child with food allergies. I know what it feels like when food allergies take up too much emotional real estate, burden your budget, time and resources or make it harder/scarier to travel, attend important gatherings or even simply celebrate with others. I have been there, and so I bring to my client work true compassion and understanding. Our schools, workplaces, medical system and often even our families don’t fully understand the social and emotional toll of living with food allergies. Individuals, familie,s and kids often feel tired, frustrated, alone, and anxious. I offer allergy-informed therapy to individuals and families. My commitment to this work is broad, and I participate both in service to the food allergy community as well as to those who serve them.

I am a certified Food Allergy Coach and a member of the Academy of Food Allergy Counselors, a nationwide group of mental health practitioners who specialize in meeting the needs of the food allergy community. I lead a peer supervision/consultation group of allergy-informed therapists, and I am a Behavioral Health Advisor to the Food Allergy Counselor, a company dedicated to offering psychosocial resources to the allergy community and the providers who support them.
